Responsible Growth for Northcross (RG4N) is a neighborhood group that represents people who live or own businesses in the Northcross Mall area.

RG4N is conducting this survey to identify the needs and concerns of area residents and property owners related to redeveloping Northcross Mall. The results will be used to develop a community vision for Northcross Mall.

Taking the Survey

This survey includes four questions about you and eight questions about your opinions. It should take about five minutes to complete.

About the Current Redevelopment Plan for Northcross Mall

The current plan for redeveloping Northcross Mall includes remodeling the eastern one-third of the mall and tearing down the western two-thirds of the mall.

The property owner plans to build a two-story, 225,085 square foot Wal-Mart Supercenter. This Supercenter will be larger than any other Wal-Mart in Austin, and will be the largest store in Austin. Wal-Mart plans to operate the store 24 hours a day.

The plan also includes building a three-story parking garage (over 300,000 square feet; located about where the Sports Authority currently sits, facing Anderson Lane) and two other buildings. An ice rink will be located in the remodeled area.

The current plan could be expected to increase traffic to the area by 400% or more. This represents about 35,000 or more vehicle trips to Northcross per day, compared to approximately 8000 trips per day currently. This is expected to include as many as 150-300 large delivery trucks per day.
